Demand-Driven Open Data (DDOD) is the Lean Startup approach to open data. DDOD reimagines the way HHS (U.S. Dept of Health and Human Services) agencies -- including CMS, FDA, NIH, CDC, NCHS, ONC, AHRQ and others -- deliver value with open data, in the process maximizing economic and public health impact. At its core, DDOD is a framework of tools and methods to provide a systematic, ongoing and transparent mechanism for industry and researchers to tell HHS what data they need. With DDOD, all open data efforts are managed in terms of "use cases", enabling better allocation of limited resources and ensuring that each release has real and immediate value. DDOD was launched out of the HHS IDEA Lab.
