In software computing technology, the term ?cross-platform,? means that computer programs, processes and associated documentation works on more than one operating system or more than one type of computer architecture.
"Cross platform" is software that is independent from platforms. There are two types of cross platform. They are:
1. Those which require special development for each platform it supports
2. "Ready to go" or those that don't need special provisioning.
Examples of different operating systems include; Windows, Mac, Linux, Unix, Solaris and AIX
Computer architecture includes logic, build and additional views within computer systems. In cloud computing, platforms consist of system architecture components that include storage, databases, run-time (real-time or automated) and queues.
Examples of different platforms include; Intel, AMD, SPARC and IBM power are different platforms.
