The hashtag #CMAAwards naturally trended on Twitter as musicians, celebrities and Twitter fans alike posted their own live tweeting versions and comments as events unfolded during awards night.
Blake Shelton (@BlakeShelton) bagged his first entertainer of the year award. This would also be the time he grabs his third consecutive male vocalist of the year recognition. Miranda Lambert (@Miranda_Lambert) grabbed female vocalist of the year. Together, the two country singers did a beautiful presentation of the song of the year ?Over You?.
Shelton dedicated his song to his late father. He shared how his dad inspired him to write and sing the song. He was very glad to have won the award, joining the likes of Brad Paisley (@BradPaisley) and Taylor Swift (@taylorswift13).
He said: ?I didn?t think about that tonight. I was thinking there?s Taylor Swift right there. Really, this is pretty dumb that there?s anyone else even nominated.?
Other stars who received awards include Kenney Chesney (@kennychesney) and TimMcGraw (@TheTimMcGraw). They earned the award for music event of the year for the song ?Party Like a Rockstar. Hunter Hayes was artist of the year. The second most coveted award of the night, album of the year, went to Eric Church (@ericchurch)
A number of country celebrities also did stunning performances. Taylor Swift performed ?Begin Again?, her new single. McGraw also presented his new debut, ?One of Those Nights?. Willie Nelson (@willienelson) was given the lifetime achievement award.
