Since the death of Margaret Thatcher, former British Prime Minister, the hashtag #nowthatchersdead has been trending well on Twitter.
The hashtag has been used by thousands of her political supporters and fans to share their sentiments and forward their condolences.
However, some people mistook the hashtag as a venue to talk about another famous person.
Instead of Margaret Thatcher, there were a lot of shocked music fans who initially thought that Cher was dead.
Twitter user Ricky Gervais (@rickygervais) posted, ?Some people are in a frenzy over the hashtag #nowthatcherisdead. It?s ?Now Thatcher?s dead?. Not, ?Now that Cher?s dead?.
Fans of the singer can rest assured that Cher is still very much alive. Margaret Thatcher died on April 8, 2013 from a stroke.
Other individuals online even went further, believing that actress Teri Hatcher died.
Margaret Thatcher was loved by many of her supporters as a British Conservative Party politician. She served as Prime Minister from 1979 to 1990. She was also the head of the Conservative party for 15 years.
Thatcher garnered a lot of attention for being the only woman to assume such a high office in the United Kingdom in the 20th century. Some of the rules she laid out became widely popular as ?Thatcherism?. She was also known as the ?Iron Lady?.
Cher, on the other hand, is one of the most recognized singers in the world. She is known as the Goddess of Pop and sold millions of albums, as well as nabbed several awards through the decades.
