NevadaCSI is a project to promote the use of forensic science to help increase the safety of our communities. The current focus is to raise private funds to build a publicly operated Forensic Science Center in Southern Nevada. The Center will include labs for DNA (for rape and other crimes), toxicology (for DUI blood alcohol/blood drug), drug analysis (heroin, meth, cocaine, and 74+ other types), fingerprint, firearms, and other forensic labs. An educational component, used in partnership with a college or university, will provide the first joint forensic laboratory/undergraduate training experience of its kind in Nevada. The education, training, research area will also double as space to increase operational capacity in the event of a homeland security issue or other emergencies. The completed Center will substantially increase practical application of forensic science in the state, and will serve as a model for others in the U.S. This project will help solve crimes, prevent crime, and save lives.
