Healing Amelia describes the healing model, Parts and Memory Therapy (P&MT), through focusing on Amelia's issues and memories that push themselves to the front of her consciousness during the PMS/PMDD phases of her monthly cycle. As Amelia's painful life experiences are revisited and neutralized of disturbing emotions, she becomes more and more centered, calmer, and able to support her husband as he does his own therapy to become more flexible and open to accepting an equal partner. The visualization work found in the book Healing Amelia is cutting-edge psychotherapy, trauma-based and emotion-focused.

This is the story of struggle and triumph by one woman (Amelia) to overcome monthly rage, fatigue, postpartum depression, and fear through psychotherapy for her PMS, PMDD, postpartum depression and other issues. Amelia finds renewed confidence and wisdom within herself and reconciliation with her husband as she joyfully plans for another child. It is also the story of the therapy, Parts and Memory Therapy, and how it heals Amelia's childhood traumas, large and small, through visualizing Amelia in her memories and in present-time as subpersonalities or active Parts of herself that carry her memories. The memories are healed through the process of memory reconsolidation to produce emotional neutrality for the once-painful memories that shaped Amelia's life.
