Micro-blogging social media site Twitter recently launched the Twitter API version 1.1 which features better rate limits, third-party client limitations, authentication in different areas and several developer display requirements and rules of the road updates.
Just a few weeks ago, developers were anticipating the alterations since the update on the API was already introduced. A number of other user features were still existing, like authentication settings that will keep information on Twitter in control and help keep abusive behavior at bay.
As the new interface is released, developers have only six months to follow the new provided rules and guidelines. The new application will be subject to new guidelines by Twitter to help users maximize its use and understand the restrictions.

?Additionally, based on feedback after the original blog post, we felt it was important to clarify one thing about user tokens and the 100,000 user token limit.?
He wrote further, ?The 100,000 user token limit applies only to the small set of clients replicating the core Twitter experience. It does not apply to the majority of other applications in the broader ecosystem.?
Considering this move, Twitter is geared toward protecting the information and other related features. The new rules will protect the company from Internet developers who tend to copy other characteristics of Twitter.
The social media site has long been committed to boosting the way users interact and deal with different types of content. These are the very assets that make the company unique from several other networking sites, as well as generate much-needed income.
Application developers and other web experts have improved their connections, particularly with Twitter itself, by featuring products and content that will support the site. Everything that puts a strain on the setup and threaten the company will lead to the creation of the proper restrictions to limit such activities.
The new restrictions set by Twitter were already felt by others like Tumblr, Linkedln and Instagram. Tweetbot, in particular, had to close activities, focusing on the development of a desktop application for Mac because of the user access limits.
The rules, however, do not cover everything on Twitter. The protection clauses were particularly targeting applications that copy the core features and fail to bring traffic into the website.
Twitter Decides To Drop Support
One of the biggest changes includes the decision to remove support for XML, RSS and Atom. As for the streaming APIs, XML support has already been eliminated.
This was expected by some users but the removal of RSS and Atom, which were usually incorporated formats for various web feeds was a huge surprise to many. The support for JSON was maintained because the social media site discovered that the other three were only seldom used. The alpha and beta testing for Mac by Tweetbot have been reset, although no new clients can be added since the total number of user tokens has been limited.
The main objective of the rules and guidelines is to prevent third-party clients from benefiting from the original ideas of the social media giant. Many of the tools and applications have been certified as official Twitter products.
The deadline is on March 5, 2013.
Despite the removal of the platform support, Twitter has developed something new for users to look forward to ? the embedding of feeds will allow users to get a lot of functions that are naturally available in the main site. Even when they?re on other websites, the new tool is becoming indispensable for users and developers because RSS used to be the preferred platform for acquiring feeds from Twitter.
