Would You? The Tweet-Sourced Beer. Yes, Beer.

July 1, 2013
mashsmallAn exciting new beer is bound to grab the attention of social media users everywhere. #Mashtag is the most recent product created by Brew Dog, a Scottish brewery. According to Mashable, the company allowed their social media clients to pick the name and key ingredients of the beverage. Tweet-sourcing has become widely popular today as musicians, celebrities and businesses incorporate hashtags and other social media elements in their brands and marketing campaigns. #Mashtag is made of American Brown Ale from New Zealand with an ABV of 7.5%. The word ?mash? comes from the beer brewing technique known as mashing, added with the popular hashtag, a social media tool for advertisers and casual online users. Many online users also gave their own recommendations on the elements of the new drink as well as other equally noteworthy and funny names. A vote was done online with 58% of the voters picking #Mashtag. According to those who have already tried #Mashtag, they describe it as a dark beer, aged with oak chips and hazelnuts. Many like the tasty combination of the hops, saying that the beer has a unique sweet and soft flavor. Beershow O?Clock liked the way the beer didn?t taste as bitter as they thought it would. Overall, it is a delicious drink that is bound to make waves especially among social media enthusiasts. Before, Sam Adams, a beer maker based in the United States also used social media to hopefully come up with a unique beer. However, the crowdsourcing process was not as successful as the Brew Dog competition. Officially, #Mashtag is the first crowdsourced beer.
