For many years, online users have grown to be dependent on online shopping because it is easy, fast and convenient. Recently, social micro-blogging giant Twitter and American Express (@AmericanExpress) formed a partnership to offer a special kind of service wherein members can buy on Twitter using hashtags. American Express realized the potential of converting conversations into actual business. The popularity of hashtags seems to be the most viable solution in leading online users to actually purchase products on Twitter. American Express will be introducing a number of product hashtags. Twitter users are asked to sync their credit card with Twitter so they can start purchasing via the specific hashtags or using #sold. A short list was made by the credit card company, offering a number of products like the Xbox 360 and Amazon Kindle Fire HD at discounted rates. The approach is a great opportunity for American Express to enter e-commerce, considering that it has previously collaborated with other social networks like Facebook and Foursquare to allow users to sync their cards online for quick purchases. After Twitter users sync their American Express credit cards, Twitter users can tweet special #hashtags to check and search available products and merchants on the social media site. They can purchase immediately from popular companies like Sony, Amazon, Donna Karan and Xbox 360. The @Connect tab will show the Twitter mentions to get a response from @AmexSync with a confirmation #hashtag. Users should tweet the confirmation #hashtag to confirm the purchase within 15 minutes. The product will be shipped to the client?s billing address for free. Here's a video that shows us how it works.
