There are estimated to be over 500,000 children who were placed in institutional and out of home care around Australia between 1920 to 1989. They are known as Forgotten Australians or Care Leavers. They are persons with lived experience of institutional child abuse and include the Stolen Generation and Former Child Migrants.

Capabilities in Aged & Community Care Readiness an Evaluation of Innovation & Technology is a research project and report facilitated by ACIITC and funded by 2020.

The Aged Care Industry IT Council (ACIITC) was formed by the two industry Peak bodies Leading Age Services Australia (LASA) and Aged and Community Services Australia (ACSA) in 2007 with the express intent of providing the industry with a vehicle to consider and debate IT related opportunities and to disseminate the lessons learned from that process to the wider aged care industry.

The delivery of social support and health care services within the community setting e.g. in people's homes or a community center. Services may include: shopping, cleaning, gardening, meal preparation, personal care, medicine management, social programs, nursing services, assistive technologies, telehealth, respite care etc.
