A quit smoking memoir by Alison Beard.

What is a QUICK FIX? In this context, a QUICK FIX is a tweet that suggests an alternative to smoking, that when done instead, typically consumes less time than it takes to smoke a cigarette. A QUICK FIX is a diversion tactic, and most should take less than five minutes - the amount of time that it takes for an urge to smoke to pass. Performing a QUICK FIX distracts your mind from wanting a cigarette by forcing it to concentrate on the task at hand. Ideally, a QUICK FIX will have nothing to do with smoking, because in addition to being a distraction, reaching for an alternative "QUICK FIX" instead of reaching for a cigarette will help to create new routines and new behavioral patterns for a quitting smoker, until it becomes more natural to NOT smoke.
