Healthy Minds Canada's Taking Charge is a full day conference designed to foster the dialogue between community-based organizations, national organizations, individuals with lived experience (and their families), and treatment providers by educating and empowering people to better understand their own mental health, treatment options, and medication side effects management. In short, Taking Charge promotes the hope and promise that people can and do recover from even the most serious mental health conditions when they are provided a full array of both treatment and recovery supports. Conferences are free of charge, and will identify and explain medication side effects and offer coping and lifestyle management skills to help with medication adherence and recovery related to mental illness. Addiction, mindfulness, mental wellness, and diet and exercise will also be included. Highlights will also be condensed, edited, and made available on HMC’s web site.
