The #high5 hashtag was created by Community Transit in Snohomish County, WA for Bus Driver Appreciation Day which takes place annually on March 18. Bus Driver Appreciation Day was created by a group of Seattle commuters in Seattle, WA in 2009 and has since been embraced by transit users and agencies alike. Whether you refer to them as 'bus driver' or 'coach operator', these folks transport thousands of commuters and local riders all day, every day, often on the same route over and over again. Thank your bus driver for a job well done personally by simply saying 'Thank you'; and/or tweet about it using the hashtag #high5.
