It is time to create a public awareness regarding substance abuse and co-occurring mental health disorders. It is time to illuminate the ugly truths, familiar struggles, and shocking statistics that humanize drug addicts and celebrate those in recovery. It is time to admit that perfection, as a concept, is flawed, as it implies a static state of being. As living beings, we grow, change, and adapt to survive. To stay still is to cease.
One voice is enough to shatter the shame-based silence surrounding mental health issues in society [eating disorders, depression, substance abuse, addiction/obsession]; to disrupt the existing stigma and separation.
Join me in a celebration of Lend your voice, your name, your story to a movement worth talking about: Recovery of Self! Once started, we will not be stopped- Voices of Recovery: Visible. Vibrant. Valuable.
