Abbreviated reference to the United Nations International Decade for People of African Descent, an international human rights initative running from January 2015 to December 2024. The Decade has three official themes: Recognition, Justice, and Development. The Decade is an initiative of the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), based at the UN Office in Geneva, Switzerland. The Decade is directed by the UN Working Group of Experts on People of African Descent (UNWGEPAD), which is part of the OHCHR.
